‘Billions’ Is Over, So Is My Career In Hedge Funds

After graduating from college in 2016, I decided to embark on a thrilling career journey inspired by the series ‘Billions’. It was a show that made hedge funds seem larger than life. So naturally, I thought, “Why not apply to hedge fund jobs and become a market wizard?”
Nope, I didn’t land a job at XXXXX##, the prestigious hedge fund shark. Instead, I found myself working at a smaller fund, like a guppy version of Billions. Picture my surprise when I realized that the fast-paced world of hedge funds wasn’t all adrenaline-fueled boardroom battles and extravagant lunches. It was more like endless hours of analyzing spreadsheets and trying not to fall asleep during meetings.
Funny Twist:
My dreams of rubbing shoulders with power players like Bobby Axelrod were dashed as quickly as the 2020 stock market crash.
Lesson Learned:
TV shows aren’t the best career advisors.
Looking back, it’s funny how a TV show can have such a profound effect on my career choices. But hey, at least I can say that I gave it a shot. And who knows, maybe I’ll have my own thrilling story to tell someday — minus the luxurious lifestyle and the dramatic plot twists.
So there you have it, my not-quite-so-glamorous journey into the world of finance. Stay tuned as I navigate my way through the ups and downs of entrepreneurship. No matter what, I promise to bring you more funny stories along the way. After all, laughter is the best hedge against life’s unpredictability.
